University of Michigan-Flint

The University of Michigan-Flint understands that face-to-face instruction is not an option for many students who have important daily obligations, like a career or family responsibilities. It therefore offers both online and hybrid degrees, including bachelor’s degree programs in business, RN to BSN, and applied science. The university also offers individual online classes for traditional students. To access classes, enrolled students complete their course work through Blackboard and maintain contact with professors through forums, email, and phone communication. Michigan State University

Michigan State University provides more than 100 online classes and multiple degrees that can be completed entirely online. Among them is an RN to BSN bachelor’s degree completion program. Enrolled students take classes that build upon their prior instruction in nursing and may therefore complete the program on a part-time basis in as little as five semesters. Many instructors use the ANGEL learning portal to give students access to online classes and course materials.

Eastern Michigan University

Eastern Michigan University offers a variety of online degree programs that can be completed over the Internet, including bachelor’s degree programs in dietetics, construction management, and public safety administration. There are also degree completion programs in nursing, business administration, and technology management. Students access their classes through the EMU-Online course delivery system, where they can participate in discussions, access course materials, and keep track of assignments. Online students also have access to many services, including advising and career help. Potential students who are interested in online learning but are unsure of whether it will be a good fit for them can participate in an online course demonstration.

Higher Education in Michigan

There are many colleges and universities located within the state of Michigan. The National Center for Education Statistics reports that there are 211 institutions of higher education in total in Michigan, 92 of which offer some form of distance education, including online bachelors degrees.
